Connect your Discord server

Go-live announcements, welcome messages and roles for your members.

GriddleBot joins your server as a bot and can announce your streams, welcome new members and hand out a role.

1. In the app, open Discord in the sidebar, under Community.
2. Click Connect a server. It opens your browser, where Discord asks which server and which permissions.
3. Pick your server. You need Manage Server permission on it to do this.
4. Approve the permissions, then come back to the app.
5. Under Go-live announcements, turn on Announce when I go live, choose the Channel, and click Save message.
6. Optionally, under Welcome & auto-role, turn on Welcome new members and Give everyone who joins a role.

The bot's role in Discord must sit ABOVE any role it hands out - Discord refuses to let a bot assign a role higher than its own. The Role list only offers roles the bot can give; if the one you want is missing, move the bot's role higher in your server settings.

If the Discord page says Discord is refusing a permission the bot needs, welcome messages and the role for new members will not work until that clears. Go-live announcements are not affected.

Send a test, under Go-live announcements, posts a sample announcement so you can check the channel and wording before a real stream.
