Let the bot chat back with AI

Give the bot a personality and it replies when mentioned - a Pro feature, on your own API key or GriddleBot's.

The bot can chat back in your channel with an AI persona. It is part of Pro. It runs on your own API key with an AI provider - billed to you directly, so you control the spend - or, if you leave the key blank, on GriddleBot's own AI, using the monthly allowance that comes with Pro.

1. Using your own key? Create an account with an AI provider and generate an API key.
2. In the app, open Chat AI in the sidebar, under Chat, and pick the Channel.
3. Under AI chat persona, turn on Let an AI persona reply in my chat.
4. Pick the Provider and Model, and paste your API key. It is stored encrypted and never shown again.
5. Choose a Personality, and how strongly it comes through with Personality strength.
6. Choose When to reply: When someone @mentions the bot, Only on a command (!ai or !ask), or Never (paused).
7. Set Max replies per minute so a busy chat cannot run up your bill.
8. Click Save AI chat, then @mention the bot in your chat while you are live to test it.

It only replies while you are live, and only on Pro. Offline, or without Pro, the bot skips AI replies without saying anything in chat - so test it on a real stream, not an offline one.

On your own key, what this costs is tokens with your provider. Replies are kept short, but every one also sends the persona and a little recent chat, so a busy stream answering hundreds of messages adds up. Max replies per minute is the cap on that.

Blend in a second personality at a low mix - a friendly bot with a little Snarky reads far more naturally than either on its own.
