Set up a soundboard

Play sounds on stream from the app, from chat, or from a channel-point reward.

Sounds play through your PC, so they need the desktop app. Where they get routed decides whether your stream hears them.

1. Open the desktop app and go to Soundboard in the sidebar.
2. Click + Add sound and pick an audio file from your PC.
3. It is named after the file. Rename it in the name box on its card if you like - the name is how chat triggers and rewards find it.
4. Press the play button on the sound to test it. Set hotkey gives it a keyboard shortcut that works even when the app is not in front.
5. In the app's Settings, under Audio output, choose which device App sounds & soundboard plays through.

If you can hear the sound but your stream cannot, the sound is going to your headphones and OBS is not capturing that device. Route it to a device OBS captures, or use a virtual audio cable.

To let viewers trigger sounds, add a Chat Trigger with What happens set to Play sound, or a Reward Action with What it does set to sound, and type the sound's name as it appears on its card. Chat Triggers are under Chat > Chat Messages, Reward Actions under Points & Games > Points.
