Install and pair the desktop app

What the app is for, and how to connect it to your account.

The GriddleBot app is where you set GriddleBot up - your bot, moderation, commands, points and alerts are all in it. It also does the things that need to touch your own PC: OBS, your speakers, your lights, your files. It is free.

1. Install it

1. On griddlebot.com, open Download (Software once you are signed in) and click Download GriddleBot for Windows. If your browser asks, choose Keep.
2. Run the installer. Windows may say Windows protected your PC because the publisher is unknown - click More info, then Run anyway.

2. Link it to your account

1. Open the app. A setup guide starts - click Get started.
2. At Connect your account, pick Log in, Create an account or Use a pairing code.
3. Log in: your email and password, then Log in & link - or sign in with Twitch or Google instead.
4. Create an account: fill it in, verify your email, then come back and log in to link this PC.
5. Pairing code: on the website, open Software and click Generate pairing code. Type the code into Pairing code in the app and click Connect. It only lasts a few minutes.
6. The status chip at the top right now says Linked. It stays linked after restarts.
7. Carry on through the rest of the setup - Kick, a dashboard layout, clips and Start with Windows. You can skip any of it and run it again from Settings with Run setup again.

The app has to be running for anything it owns to work - OBS control, the soundboard, smart lights, Kick clips and clips from OBS. Closing the window just hides it in the tray, which is fine; choosing Quit from the tray icon is not.

It updates itself. When an update installs you will see a short What's new note about what changed.
