Set up moderation and the AI filter

Automod levels, what the AI does, and the one setting that stops it working.

GriddleBot has two layers: fast rules that catch obvious things, and an AI that reads meaning rather than spelling.

  1. In the app, open Moderation in the sidebar, under Chat. It starts on All platforms - pick one platform at the top only if you want it different there.
  2. Check Enable moderation is on, then arm the basic rules you want - Filter links, Too many capitals, Too many symbols, Flooding, Repeating themselves and more. Open a rule to tune it.
  3. Open AI moderation and turn on Enable AI moderation.
  4. Under What to judge, pick from Harassment, Hate, Threats, Spam, NSFW and Other - or leave them all unticked to act on every kind.
  5. Set How sure it must be to act, and What to do when it is sure.
  6. Choose When it is less sure: Nothing - just send it to Mod Review, or Time them out meanwhile. The message stays in chat either way - the bot cannot hold it back.
  7. Save.

The bot must be a MODERATOR in your channel. Without that it can see everything and do nothing - it will detect a problem, decide to act, and be refused by the platform. The top of the Moderation tab says whether it is, and gives you the /mod command to paste (usually /mod TheGriddleBot). On Kick it is /mod GriddleBot - one account that does the moderating and posts GriddleBot's chat messages.

The AI needs a key to read chat with: your own, saved as the API key on the Chat AI page, or - with Pro - GriddleBot's own AI. With neither, nothing is checked.

Start with How sure it must be to act set high and When it is less sure on Nothing - just send it to Mod Review, so the bot never acts on a guess. After a few streams, look through Mod Review (Chat > Moderation, the Mod Review tab) - each flagged message has Dismiss, Delete message, Time out 10m and Ban - and lower the threshold once you trust it.
