Clip the good bits automatically

GriddleBot notices raids, big tips, hype trains and chat going wild, and clips them.

The moments worth clipping are exactly the moments you are too busy to clip. This watches for them instead.

  1. In the app, open Broadcast > Clips & VODs in the sidebar and pick the Auto Clips tab. (Older app versions: Channel Settings > Auto Clips.)
  2. It starts on All platforms, so the clip settings apply to every chat - pick one platform at the top only if you want it different there.
  3. Turn on Enable auto clips.
  4. Under What triggers a clip, turn on the ones you want: Incoming raid, Donation, Hype train, Chat goes off, and Someone says a keyword.
  5. Donation has Only donations of at least (cents) - 500 is $5.00. Hype train has From level.
  6. For keywords, add the things your chat actually types - clip it, pog, no way - one at a time.
  7. Set Minimum gap between clips (seconds) so one loud minute does not produce nine of them.
  8. Save.

Only Twitch can make a clip on its own. On Kick and YouTube, auto-clips are saved from OBS, and that needs all of this: the GriddleBot app open and connected to OBS, OBS's replay buffer STARTED - not just enabled - and, on the Clip command tab (Broadcast > Clips & VODs), Let chat make clips on and then Also save an OBS replay on. Miss any one and nothing is clipped, which looks identical to no clip being worth making.

Donation and Hype train only ever clip your Twitch channel. On Kick and YouTube the triggers that work are Incoming raid, Chat goes off and Someone says a keyword.

How busy chat must get is measured against your own normal chat rate, not a fixed number, so it keeps working as your channel grows. Higher means fewer clips. Start at the default and adjust after a stream or two rather than guessing.

Clip now at the top of the page makes a clip straight away. Clip length (seconds), next to Also save an OBS replay, sets how long a clip is when nobody gives a length. !clip in chat is a separate setting - on Kick, Also save an OBS replay keeps an OBS copy as well as the Kick clip, which the Kick clips guide explains.
